O’Hare

While the neighborhood of O’Hare is inescapably defined by O’Hare International Airport, the area is less urban that you may think. The neighborhood of about 12,000, including many pilots, is bordered by forest preserves and is near the Des Plains River.

O’Hare is delineated by Montrose and East River Road, and Peterson and Cumberland Avenue. The price of a home in O’Hare ranges between $135,000 and $500,000.

Union Ridge, near Norwood Park and Old Norwood Park, is bordered by Bryn Mawr Avenue to the north, Foster Avenue to the south, Nagle Avenue to the east and Harlem Avenue to the west.

Schorsh Village is close to Dunning, Belmont Heights, Irving Woods, and Belmont Terrace. It is surrounded by Addison Street to the north, Belmont Avenue to the south, Naragansett Avenue to the east, and Harlem Avenue to the west.

Oriole Park is encompassed by I-90 to the north, Foster Avenue to the south, Harlem Avenue to the east, and Canfield Avenue to the west. The actual park is at 5430 North Olcott Avenue, near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Bryn Mawr Avenue. It has baseball diamonds, soccer and football fields, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, paths, and open areas. Among the activities at Oriole Park are music lessons, preschool, gymnastics, jazz and tap dancing, and various sports instruction. Reversing convention, and taking it’s name from the community to which it belongs, Oriole Park was created by the Chicago Park District in the 1930s.

The CTA Blue Line stops in the area and the Kennedy Expressway is nearby.
