Uptown

Uptown has been an entertainment sanctuary in Chicago for decades. Home to many theaters and music clubs, this area has seen legends of stage and music alike. After the Second World War, the area started to decline. Theaters closed and citizens moved to adjacent communities. Many grand and luxurious homes were converted into multi-resident homes that were more reasonably priced. But over the last two decades, Uptown has undergone a complete overhaul. Many older commercial and residential properties that had fallen into dilapidation have been completely remodeled or reconditioned to their original condition and are once more becoming choice locations. Yet with all the changes, Uptown still retains its identity, personality, character and unique atmosphere, as well as it’s long time residents.

While there are many new businesses moving into the area, some of the old establishments are undergoing restoration and are poised to reclaim their former glory. There is no lack of entertainment in Uptown, with the Aragon Ballroom, the Riviera Theatre, and the Uptown Theatre in close proximity. There are more than enough restaurants to satisfy any craving. The neighborhood also has some schools and hospitals.

Home prices extend from $170,000 to $450,000, rising steadily due to the area’s revitalization. Last year, the median home price increased from $192,000 to $215,000. This can mean significant profits for investors.
