McKinley Park

McKinley Park

McKinley Park is considered by many to be a “diamond in the rough” due to its location, the terrific capacity for property development, and the presently low prices for real estate properties. The old neighborhoods of Archer Heights, Brighton Park, and Gage Park are near by. The residents of McKinley Park have a good deal of pride in their community and it is evident in the well kept-up homes. The housing alternatives in the area are nicely varied, and include two and three flats, town homes, and the occasional century-old manor. McKinley Park is a South West Side neighborhood, between Western Avenue and Ashland Avenue.

The area supports two main shopping thoroughfares along 35th Street, and another shopping center at Riverside Square, located at Ashland and Archer. Dispersed throughout the region are smaller stores, ethnically diverse restaurants and various entertainment possibilities. There are annual community street festivals sporting ethnic foods which celebrate the residents’ heritages from around the world.

The actual McKinley Park has undergone a massive, $2.5 million dollar restoration in the last few years, and boasts a pool, a lagoon, and winter ice skating, along with a number of community events throughout the year.

There are some schools in the district. The Orange Line has stops at 35th Street and Ashland, and I-55 is accessible from the region.
